Social media in teaching

Use of We-chat and Whats app has been a very effective tool for communication with children through their parents. In my class we have a We-chat group with parents where I deliver necessary messages needed for children and parents.
One Friday I suddenly thought of conducting a test on Monday but children were already home and I could not figure it out what to be done. Than I thought of informing the children through we-chat that on Monday I will be conducting an open test for which I will be giving out the questions today in this we-chat. So I gave all the questions which is going to come in the test and reminded all the children to prepare well for the test.

On Monday in the class I made them to discuss in their groups the questions and the answers, to be written in the test for 10 minutes.
After that I conducted the test and did the correction.
To my surprise I found out that 95% of students could score 10 out of 10.
I concluded that learning can happen in any dimension, but more learning happens when they already know what they need to learn. So dear colleagues please try out what I had done to my children, hope it might also benefit your children too.

3D animation android application in teaching.

Android application in teaching

My lesson was on solar system and I wanted to really give the concept of solar system and how it functions.Than I remembered the apps in android phones so I downloaded the Solar System 3D application and showed it to my students in groups and explained it to them how a solar system really functions.

After explaining it with the help of a mobile application, students understood the concept of solar system clearly. They were very excited and happy to learn about solar system through the android application.
Later when I gave the activity to draw the solar system, many of them could draw it without referring it from other pictures.
With this I felt children learn better with pictures and 3D animations.

You Tube

The lesson I taught was the parts of flower. With all the pictures needed I taught the students about the parts of flower through the picture. Later I thought of why not let them watch a you tube on the parts of flower for the students at home.
So I decided to share a web link for the parts of flower:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=493WeySyf-8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O-q3alPFOo&t=7s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVzTO0GZbH4

I sent the web address to the parents through we chat and instructed to let their children watch and and memories the parts of flower.

Next day I found out that all the students could name the parts of flower and all the students said that they have learned it through You Tube. So i feel You tube is a place where you could get all the information and children also learn lot through it.

Google search engine

Google search engine

A very simple gadget where you get the information can be your mobile phone and the google search engine. As I was having a lesson and at the end of the lesson I asked students  about their doubts regarding plants. One boy stood up and asked what is autotrophs? Now I wanted to teach how to yous smart phones to get the information which would be helpful for them. So I opened the google search engine, took out the information regarding autotrophs and read out to them.

Smart phones sometimes are very useful to get information specially when you are stuck with the students doubts. You don't need to say to the children I will find out the answer and tell you tomorrow.  This technique solved my problem and saved me from the doubts.

White the information from the net, students got more information  and myself as well got more to elaborate on the doubt the student had.

Projector

PROJECTOR

The screen which we had missed in our time. The board where we don't need to dirty our hands and literally scribble. Projector has dominated the education system of our country. Nowadays projectors are distributed all across the schools in our country and benefited a lot. I too some times avail this facility to teach my children and found it to be very effective. It also saves our time as we don't need to spend time writing on the chalk board.

Children were taken to the special classroom and they showed signs of excitement allover the hall. They were made to sit as per their choice. We discussed about the magnets at home and then showed them some videos related to it.

Children not only read the lines projected on the screen but also had the opportunity to look at the real pictures and videos which we could not do it on the chalk board. Later after the session, all were leaving the hall with a huge smile on their face.

Thank you Mother

Dear mother, even though you don’t exist today, you are always in my thoughts and will remain in the core of my heart for eternity. Like the earth is the mother of creation, you created me of what I am today. The love and care with which you showered me has made me realize the power of motherly affection. This I am sure can make an everlasting impression on all generations to come.
I still miss the hot and spicy taste of chilly-cheese curry you prepare which very few might have had the recipe. Despite being a mother to seven vulnerable children, I can still feel your love, passion and determination to this moment. From managing the home affairs to standing in solidarity with the unfortunate ones, you have showcased how enterprising and genuine you were even as a house wife. The positive vibes of your good community relationship still flows in our blood, making us cooperative in the family and acceptable in the society. Still now we are known by your name and character. You are long gone though!
A haircut of a typical Bhutanese woman backed by oval shaped face and cupid bow lips reminds me of the kindest of all faces. The tanned skin caused by too much exposure in sun because of your habitual weaving was in itself a beauty of sort. Ironically, those small moments still haunt and images in my mind. In short, it brings a tremendous amount of joy in my life. Your hands and feet were so well arranged and tender to look at. It added an extra splendor on your beauty. Always in the traditional attire, you showed us the example of how to preserve our culture. The tireless coordination of annual ritual with full energy showed us the traditions of our family. As you had always wished, I have imbibed your love, mannerism and philosophy. I am transferring it to my children now.
There would be few fortunate ones who might be blessed with a mother like you. Still now my heart aches when I think of your sudden demise.  I still become emotional. When you breathed your last, I thought I will forget you in the course of time. I was wrong! Calling me as the thread of your heart, sometimes I feel I have failed as a son to keep you alive. Even though you are gone, we are here living in harmony as you wished.
Aai Maa! I wish you could have lived to witness your grandson speak in English which will be pleasing to your ears. While you watch your granddaughter dancing to the modern tune, you would even forget your evening holy chant. The garland like rosary in your hand is a vivid image I can still strongly associate with. I regret you not being here witnessing your ten grandchildren. I am sure they will adore you so much. They will be busy with mobile games asking you for tea and snakes. If ever I were given a wish, I would wish your return to our family. Your words, tone and action are still imprinted in my thoughts. It would be there till I breathe my last.
In the end I thank you a zillion, my dearest mother. The love and the hardship you have undergone in bringing me up and making me what I am today is exemplary.  My only prayer would be to be born again as your child in my next life. Thank you from the core of my heart, dear mother.
